to GIST Terminals
C-DAC GIST Terminals are compatible to the DEC
VT52/100/220/320 and ANSI terminals, and communicate with the host
through the RS232 connector. GIST Terminals allow the use of any
Indian script, along with English, on all the application
packages like Lyrix, FoxBase,
WordPerfect, and RDBMS packages like Oracle, Ingres, Sybase
etc. available on
multiuser environments like
UNIX, XENIX, VMS etc.
C-DAC
GIST Terminal consists of the Terminal box and Monitor as an integrated unit and a 101-key Keyboard with INSCRIPT Keyboard overlay stickers.
It comes with the latest Firmware version
8.03 which is unique to C-DAC GIST Terminal.
C-DAC GIST Terminal finds
its use in multiuser environments like UNIX, XENIX, VMS etc. where the data is
centralised and can be accessed from the terminals connected to the Host. Some
of the broad application areas of C-DAC GIST Terminal are :
* Processing, sharing and printing of large volumes of multilingual data in multiuser
environments, especially useful
for sectors like Banking, Insurance, Finance, Agriculture, Human Resources,
etc.
* Development of customised multilingual database application
software on RDBMS like Oracle, Sybase,
Ingres etc.
* Multilingual word-processing with 'ALP For UNIX' (available
separately), Lyrix etc.
* Multilingual communication on networks (e.g. sending and
receiving e-mail in Indian languages etc.).
