ISM On Windows NT/Server

While Installation of ISM 2000 there are different options which can be selected:

1. Installing on Novell Netware Server. (Server Installation)
Installation can be done from any WINDOWS based system which is connected to that particular network. A virtual directory has to be mapped (can be mapped to the sys: volume also) from the client machine so that the necessary files will be loaded on the Novell Server. The local directory can be any directory in the Novell Server or the Local Machine (preferred).

2. Installing on WINDOWS NT Server.( Server Installation)
Server Installation can be carried out on any computer connected to the Network (any computer which is a comparatively faster machine will do).

3. Installing a local copy
This is client side installation. The installation has to be carried out on those clients where ISM 2000 is to be used. This is recommended.

4. Share a copy from the server.
This is again a client side installation. This option utilizes a lot of server resources.

STEP 2: Installation of ISM 2000 dongle on various Networks

ISM-Network supports various networks and protocols. The ISM-Network Dongle should be connected to the parallel ports (port where printer is connected) in the network file server.

Following is the setup procedure for installing ISM for various networks. After installation of ISM but before using the ISM software, you will have to run the "ISM-Network Server program". This program is different for different networks. The name of the program and how to run it are given below. You can locate them in ISM directory, after installation of ISM.

The ISM-Network Server Program is required to be loaded once, every time, after you boot your server and before using any of the ISM utilities on any workstation. So, it is better to load the Server Program during the operating System's startup time.

A) ISM 2000 on a Novell Netware 386/486 File Server

The ISM-Network Server program for Novell Netware file servers is haspserv.nlm.

To load the ISM-Network Server program:
· Connect the ISM-Net Dongle to the server.
· Copy haspserv.nlm to the sys:system directory of the file server. Adding the line 'load haspserv' to the autoexec.ncf file in the sys:system directory.

To remove ISM-Network Server program:
· Enter unload haspserv. This should be used only if ISM is to be uninstalled. If it is unloaded then ISM2000 will stop working.

B) ISM 2000 on a Windows NT Server

The ISM-Network Server program for Windows NT is Nhsrvw32.exe.

To load ISM-Network Server program:

1. Connect the ISM-Net dongle to the server (the computer where the server installation of ISM2000 was carried out)
2. Install ISM-Network Server program by following way
· Log on as a user with Administrator Privileges.
· Run Nhsrvw32.EXE from the ISM2000 directory or Start Menu and then start ISM or the best is to put this in the startup of WINDOWS. This is a license manager. If you close this then ISM 2000 will stop working.

If there is a message which says that "Dongle not found", please do the following
· Go to Start menu then to Run. Type hinstall -i. This should install the Dongle Drivers.
· Restart the system and again go to Step 2

To remove ISM-Network Server program (This should be done only if you want to uninstall ISM 2000):

1. Log on as a user with administrator Privileges.
2. Go to Start menu and then to Run. Type hinstall -rs.
3. Restart the system.

Verification in case of problem.

After Installation of ISM 2000, confirm that nethasp.ini file in ISM2000 directory contains following information. This file will be generated by ISM installer itself. This can be done just to cross check if ISM 2000 has been installed properly.
